    World Summit Award in Cairo ICT 2012

    Cairo ICT 2012 is hosting the World Summit Award (WSA), a global activity to select and promote the world's best e-content and most innovative ICT applications.

    WSA is based on a unique mechanism of a global contest supported by national selections of best practice and a sequence of content-focused national and international events, content conferences and promotional exhibitions.

    Together with 39 other winners, “Erada Portal”, selected from 460 projects and 105 countries, receives UN-based World Summit Award (WSA) in the category of “e-Inclusion and Participation“, on April, 27 at Cairo ICT.

    Since its initiation in 2010, Erada Portal, an online service offers 700.000 specialized pages, 610.000 daily visits, and 2.000 monthly blog entries.

    Created by Egypt ICT Trust Fund, Erada Portal has enriched Arabic content in all disability related subjects. It has gathered PWDs, their families, NGOs, the private sector and governmental entities in one place to exchange specialized knowledge and experience.

    With the winners from World Summit Award in e-content, Cairo hosts the best digital producers, interaction designers and content developers from all around the world. They demonstrate the richness and diversity of the content industries.

    With WSA winners showcasing the best digital e-Content projects worldwide in the period of April 26- 29, Cairo will see a global panopticum of knowledge and spirit in e-content.

    Hosting the WSA winners for the first time in the Middle East adds to Cairo ICT trade fair a new dimension and special focus on international presence, and new trends that open wide new vistas of profit-making.

    About WSA:
    WSA was initiated by Austria in 2003 in the framework of the United Nations' World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) and is organised by a global partner network, coordinated by the International Center for New Media.

    WSA partners come from governments, private sector and civil society in over 160 UN member states. WSA implements the UN agenda for the development of the information society and supports specifically the UN Millennium Development Goals of ending poverty, hunger and disease, providing education for all, saving the environment and giving a fair share to women through the use of ICTs.

    An overview of the Women's Mobile Health Unit Project which aims at developing health services directed to women, especially in remote areas, through the effective utilization of e-health tools. The project is an outcome of a cooperation protocol signed in 2004 between the Ministry of Health and Population and that of Communications and Information Technology.
