Egypt Partakes in Arab States Fourth Preparatory Meeting for ITU PP 2018

    Date published: 24 September 2018

Egypt, represented by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), will participate in the Arab States Fourth Preparatory Meeting for the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Plenipotentiary Conference (ITU PP 2018) on September 24-28, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. ITUPP 2018 will held on 29 October - 16 November, Dubai, UAE.

The Plenipotentiary Conference is the highest policy-making body of the ITU. Held every four years, it is the key event at which ITU Member States decide on the future role of the organization, thereby determining the organizationís ability to influence and affect the development of information and communication technologies (ICTs) worldwide. The Conference sets the Unionís general policies; adopts four-year strategic and financial plans; and elects the senior management team of the organization, the Member States of the Council, and the members of the Radio Regulations Board.

The Arab States Fourth Preparatory Meeting for the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference will discuss the recent topics and issues that will be discussed at the Conference, especially that it is the last meeting before the Conference.  The meeting will also discuss a number of joint Arab proposals, which will affect the policies of the Arab region in the coming period, within the ITU or in other relevant regional and international forums.
