EP to Partake in UPU- POC and CA Joint Meetings

    Date published: 10 October 2018
A delegation from Egypt Post (EP) is to participate in the Universal Postal Union (UPU) joint meetings of the Postal Operations Council (POC) and the Council of Administration(CA) on October 10-26, in Bern, Switzerland. The meetings will be preceded by a session on the universal express mail strategy for the period 2012-2024.

These joint meetings are very important since the current session is the first one held after the extraordinary Congress, organized on September 3-7 in Addis Ababa. The agenda includes a number of key topics related to the future of postal work, challenges and available opportunities in the postal sector.

The meetings also discuss several issues, including the new system of contribution that ensure the continuity of the Unionís work, reformation of the Union and adoption of a more equitable system in the representation of countries at the Council of Administration (CA) and the Postal Operations Council (POC). This is in addition to considering the integrated product plan and pay plan and the participation in the e-commerce forum and how to facilitate e-commerce and e-economy.

These meetings provide an opportunity to discuss relevant issues to Egypt Post with other UPU member states, benefiting from their expertise. EP presides over the Quality of Service Fund (QSF) Board of Trustees, affiliated to UPU Postal Operations Council (POC).

Founded in 1865, Egypt National Post Organization (ENPO) is the largest provider of postal services in Egypt. The organization enables individuals, businesses, government and other entities to communicate and conduct business with each other and the world through a full range of reliable and economical services covering the delivery of correspondence, documents, money and goods.
