Egypt Partakes in International Afro Tech Forum

    Date published: 27 November 2018
Egypt, represented by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), participates in the International Afro Tech Forum and the Ministerial Round Table, held on November 27-28, in Cotonou, Benin. The Forum is held on the sidelines of the Digital Week 2018, organized by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Communication of Benin, in partnership with Smart Africa, on November 22-28.

The Forum brings together a group of high-level actors, more than 300 participants from around the world, including actors and partners of the Government of the Republic of Benin, representatives of African countries, international organizations, local regulatory authorities and key players in the local and international digital economy sector.

The first edition of the "Digital Week" was organized in Benin in 2010, under the title "Internet Week", aimed at disseminating the culture of using the Internet in Benin society and introducing all related aspects. In 2017, the name of the Forum was changed to the “Digital Week”, aiming to implement the digital transformation strategy, launched in early 2017.

This year, the secretariat of ‘Smart Africa’ Initiative participates in the organization of the event, which is of great significance due to the importance of the initiative among African countries, being a presidential initiative. Many topics related to digital transformation and various relevant strategies and initiatives in the African continent will be discussed.
