    A Joint Committee of Researchers from Nile University and Bell Labs to be Formed

    Dr. Tarek Kamel, Minister of Communications and IT, has agreed with Dr. Jeong Kim, President of Alcatel-Lucent Bell Labs on forming a joint committee of researchers and academia from Nile Univesrity and Bell Labs as a step towards singing a bilateral cooperation protocol agreement in June. 
    The agreement tool place during Dr. Kimís visit to Egypt last month where he met with Dr. Kamel in the presence of Egypt''''s ICT leaders. The meeting also entailed discussions of Bell Labs'''' experience in developing countries which can be trasferred to Egyptís ICT industry.
    Alcatel-Lucent Bell Labs organization is the telecommunications industry''''s most heralded research organization. It is a multinational company headquartered in Paris providing hardware, software and services to telecommunications service providers and enterprises. Alcatel-Lucent was formed after the merger of Alcatel and Lucent Technologies on December 1, 2006. 
    Nile University is a not-for-profit, privately-owned and autonomously-managed institution of higher learning. It is the first in a new class of academic institutions in Egypt that embraces partnership with the private sector, represented by an NGO (EFTED), government, represented by MCIT, and industry, in a major initiative of great national and regional interest.
