    Egypt Hosts Fab15 Conference

    Date published: 28 July 2019

Egypt, represented by the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), is a strategic partner in Fab15 conference, hosting the 2019 edition of the world-renowned Conference. Under the theme “Collectively Independent”, Fab 15 will be held on July 28-August 2, in El Gouna, and the closing ceremony will take place in Cairo, on August 3-4.

The 2019 edition features four tracks: Entrepreneurship for Growth, Towards 4.0, Making to Learn, and Design for Change. The event includes exhibits, a long list of keynote speakers, and additional activities including fab festival and fab lab tours.

Running for 14 years, Fab15 gathers makers and members from over 1,700 Fab Labs worldwide to share, discuss, and collaborate in the capacities of digital manufacturing, innovation, and technology. It aims at building strategic alliances to promote the inclusion of marginalized groups and knowledge transfer, and sharing best practices that empower communities to solve their own problems.

In 2018, Egypt was announced as the Fab15 host country, beating Canada, UAE, Rwanda, and China, to be the first country in the Middle East to host the largest and flagship digital fabrication event. It is a significant step forward for Egypt in the area of entrepreneurship, technology innovation and digital fabrication. It adds great value to the existing businesses and gives access for local entrepreneurs to the latest digital technologies, modern design and manufacturing techniques.
