Promoting Use of Internet Safety for Teachers

    Date published: 21 June 2015

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) in cooperation with the Ministry of Education have promoted the role of teachers in internet safety, in line with the state’s new trends for spreading awareness of Internet safety and developing policies necessary to protect children in the digital society and provide safe environment.

Since 2007, the Central Department for Information Technology and Systems at the Ministry of Education, in cooperation with MCIT, has been in charge of setting mechanisms to spread the culture of internet safety and child online protection. The department formed a teamwork of educators to train teachers and parents; and curricula were prepared to address primary, preparatory and secondary levels and published on the MoE website.

A plan was set to spread awareness on internet safety including training 6000 teachers nationwide; the plan was finalized in 2012.

MCIT and the Ministry of Education—among other ministries and governmental bodies and private companies—partake  in the National Committee for Child Online Safety where periodical meetings to discuss means of cooperation to spread the culture of internet safety are held.
