    ITIDA Supports World’s Longest Journey to Establish Largest Digital Library, Promote SDGs

    The Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) has announced that it will support the Egyptian adventurer Ali Abdo to embark on the longest journey in the world on an electric motorcycle. Abdo’s upcoming Guinness World Record Attempt aims to help raise awareness and mobilizing support for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly environment and climate change.

    ITIDA is to provide logistic and technical support in the digital documentation process of the places included in the journey, as well as contribute to the technical preparations of creating an Egypt modern encyclopedia.

    Abdo is due to visit around 75 cities and ITIDA affiliated technology parks and training and innovation centers, which will help promote ITIDA different programs targeting young people at different ages.

    The 100-day journey aims at directing attention to a number of Egyptian landscapes, shedding light on Egyptian history and heritage, and creating a digital identity for Egypt, professionally, using the information collected and showcasing it in external tours in several countries. The aim is to better introduce Egypt and its landscapes more thoroughly, and promote tourism and the business climate in Egypt in a modern way.

    Abdo stated that he seeks to hit his third world record with his 25 km electric motorcycle journey, and plans to visit all the Egyptian governorates to raise awareness of the environment issues and global warming.

    He also aims to promote the use of electric motorcycles in Egypt to help save the environment and reduce pollution and fuel consumption, as well as to disseminating the digital content collected during the trip and make it available for free and in high quality.

    Ali Abdo is the first Arab to achieve a world record on a motorcycle, and the founder of the "Around Egypt on a Motorcycle" initiative. He also managed to break his own world record in the Guinness World Records.

    The journey is carried out in collaboration between the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Immigration, the Ministry of Military Production, and a number of civil society institutions.
