    Doctors Trained within Telemedicine Initiative

    The first phase of the training of doctors, coordinators and technicians on telemedicine and its technical management system, has been concluded. This comes as an implementation of the presidential initiative for telemedicine.

    The training was conducted in Cairo, Sharqia and Port Said, in collaboration with the hospitals affiliated to the Supreme Council of University Hospitals of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. This includes the Faculty of Medicine (Kasr Al-Ainy), Suez Canal University Hospital and Zagazig University Hospital.

    This comes within the framework of the trilateral cooperation protocol, signed between the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, providing for training the personnel at the Ministry of Health’s and university hospitals. MCIT is responsible for qualifying and training telemedicine coordinators and service providers, selected by the two other ministries, on using telemedicine software and equipment.

    ICT, through the protocol, will help support the health industry, leverage and integrate the ministries’ potentials, to improve the medical services provided to citizens and facilitate their lives. This is in addition to improving healthcare and medical services, nationwide, using ICT, providing high quality diagnostic services in underserved areas and developing the doctors’ scientific skills and telemedicine competencies.
