    Egypt Partakes in ITU CWGs, Expert Groups

    Egypt, represented by the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA), is participating in the First 2020 Cluster of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Council Working Groups (CWGs), Open Consultation, and Expert Groups, on February 3-14, at ITU headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.

    The Council acts as ITU governing body in the interval between Plenipotentiary Conferences. Its role is to consider broad telecommunication policy issues to ensure that ITU activities, policies and strategies fully respond to today's dynamic, rapidly changing telecommunications environment.

    The CWGs include the Working Group on Financial and Human Resources (CWG-FHR), Working Group on International Internet-related Public Policy Issues (CWG-Internet), the Working Group on the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) (CWG-WSIS&SDGs), the Working Group on the use of the six official languages of the Union (CWG-LANG) and the Working Group on Child Online Protection (CWG-COP).

    The Experts Groups include the Informal Experts Group on the World Telecommunication/Information and Communication Technology Policy Forum 2021 (IEG-WTPF-21) and the Expert Group on the International Telecommunication Regulations (EG-ITRs).
