    Egypt Partakes in ITU-D Study Groups 1, 2 Meetings

    Egypt, represented by the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA), is participating in the third meeting of the International Telecommunication Union - Telecommunication Development Sector (ITU-D) Study Group 1 (2018-2021 study period): Enabling environment for the development of telecommunications/ICTs, on February 17-21, in Geneva, Switzerland.

    This is in addition to the third meeting of Study Group 2 (2018-2021 study period): ICT services and applications for the promotion of sustainable development, on February 24-28.

    ITU-D Study Groups provide an opportunity for all member states and sector members, including associates and academia, to share experiences, present ideas, exchange views and achieve consensus on appropriate strategies to address ICT priorities.

    The mandate of Study Group 1 is to develop national ICT policies and regulatory and technical strategies that best enable countries to benefit from the impetus of ICTs, including supportive infrastructure of broadband services, cloud computing, network functions virtualization (NFV), consumer protection and future networks as an engine for sustainable growth.

    The mandate of Study Group 2 is services and applications supported by ICTs; building confidence and security in the use of ICTs, and the use of ICTs in monitoring and mitigating the impact of climate change, on developing countries in particular.
