FLL JR. Egypt Finals to Hold in BA

    Date published: 29 January 2017
The First Lego League Junior (FLL JR.) Egypt Finals is being held, for the second year, on January 29-30, sponsored by TECHNOFuture, at the Bibliotheca Alexandria (BA), Alexandria, Egypt. FLL JR presents a new and exciting challenge to ignite the creativity of children age 6 to 10.

FLL JR is the first competition in the world in the field of scientific research, robot designing and programming for primary school students, where thousands of children all over the world are taking part. The competition idea is to present real problems facing our world today, where young participants form teams to find solutions through conducting scientific research on the competition theme, and designing and programming a moving robot model, presenting search results on a Show Me poster, that each team designs.

The competition was held for the first time in Egypt last year, at BA, in February, and was attended by 60 teams consisting of 400 students, where they presented 60 innovative projects on safe disposal of waste. This year, 150 teams are taking part, consisting of 1,100 students from nine Egyptian governorates, providing 150 scientific researches and robot designs.

The teams are evaluated according to three areas including, teamwork, scientific research, robot designing and programming. The theme of this year is built on animal world problems, how to develop animal services and preserve them in different environments. The assessment is carried out by volunteers of university professors, engineers and specialists.

TECHNOFuture is the partner of FIRST LEGO League in Egypt. TECHNO Future Egypt was founded in 2005 as the first Robotics Academy in Egypt with the main goal of promoting younger generations future by engaging them in STEM (Science, Technology Engineering and Math) projects and DIY (Do it Yourself) activities.
