    ITIDA to Carry Second Phase of University Students' Training Program

    Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) is due to carry out the second phase of the training program for university students as of the academic year 2008-2009.

    The program aims at building up the skills of university graduates in Information Technology to meet the requirements of the ICT industry. The program also helps develop linguistic skills together with interpersonal skills like those of customer service, effective listening and crisis management.

    The CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA)Dr. Hazem Abdelazim said the agency is preparing in the coming days a group of Egyptian trainers consisting of academics, university professors and ICT industry leaders to work on the training process.

    Information Technology Institute (ITI) has been assigned to implement the first phase of the program partnering with international companies like First Source, IBM Daksh and Infosys BPO Services. Also, the international learning and assessment centers of: Hewitt Associates, Eduquity and the local ones of: New Horizons, ICDL, PEMC, Solutions, Logic and Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport have participated in the program.

    ITI Chairman Dr. Mohamed Salem pointed out that the first phase of the program was successfully implemented in five faculties during the academic year 2007-2008. A total of 3,170 students have been trained so far as follows: 670 students at Computer Engineering Faculties of Cairo and Ain-Shams Universities, 2,000 others at Commerce Faculties of Cairo and Ain-Shams Universities, and 500 at Economics and Political Science Faculty.

    Established in 2004, the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) aims at developing and promoting the IT industry in Egypt.  Relying on unequivocal governmental support, ITIDA utilizes a vast array of advantages and privileges bestowed on Egypt and synchronizes public and private efforts in order to place the country high on the global ICT market scale.

    Information Technology Institute (ITI) was founded in 1993 by the Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC), dedicated to paving the way for the evolution of a knowledge-based society by developing a new generation of professionals. Due to its pivotal role in the development of the ICT field, in April 2005, Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Nazif transferred the affiliation of ITI to MCIT. Every year, 5,000 graduates of any discipline apply for ITIs training program, which offers 14 different specializations. After extensive written and oral tests, only a limited number is chosen.
