Egypt Partakes in International Regulatorsí Forum 2020

    Date published: 5 October 2020
Egypt, represented by the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA), is participating in the International Regulatorsí Forum 2020, organized by the International Institute of Communications (IIC), in collaboration with the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC), on October 5-7, online.
NTRA participation aims to showcase the key regulatory measures and initiatives adopted in Egypt, especially in the fields of protecting user rights, developing service quality standards and leveraging spectrum resources in a way that helps drive market growth. This is in addition to presenting the progress achieved in implementing digital transformation projects and paving the way for carrying out development plans in this area.
The Forum discusses the technical developments in infrastructure and the role of regulatory bodies in providing access to information, in light of the technological development. It also discusses user rights protection considerations and their impact on supporting the industry and developing the markets.
The Forum, in addition, will highlight the effects of the new global situation, in light of the global response to Coronavirus (COVID-19) and its impact on the work of telecommunication regulatory authorities. This is in addition to reviewing the best practices adopted by regulatory authorities in the past period, which helped enable the use of telecommunication technologies and services on a wider scale, to mitigate the negative impact of the precautionary measures.
Founded in 1969, the IIC is the world's only policy debating platform for the converged communications industry, providing innovators and regulators a forum to explore, debate and agree on the best policies and regulatory frameworks, for the widest societal benefit.
