    Securing Electronic Space, Computer Networks and Digital Identity in Cardex Exhibition and Conference 2009

    In Cardex Exhibition and Conference2009, held in Cairo, 13th - 15th December 2009, Minister of ICT Dr. Tarek Kamel, stated that securing electronic space is one of the challenges faced by those working in the field of digital IDs. He pointed out that last year; the ICT Ministry had taken major steps, the most important of which is launching the first emergency center in Egypt and the Arab region for securing computer networks and digital IDs.

    The center includes distinguished and highly qualified calibers working 24 hours a day and receiving complains concerning protecting communications and information networks. It has big contributions to confronting the crimes related to digital IDs and credit cards.

    Moreover, the center services will be expanded during the coming phase, within a framework of securing electronic space, in cooperation with corresponding centers all over the world, including the American Center." Dr Tarek Kamel said, in the opening session of the conference, attended by Minister of State for Administrative Development, Dr. Ahmed Darwish.

    "Our efforts to secure electronic space are not limited to the Emergency Center. We carry out training programs for many young people in the field of electronic space through NTRA and ITIDA, and in collaboration with an American specialized institute and the National Communications Institute ", he added.

    Dr. Kamel stressed the need to pump big investments in training and human development in Egypt as well as the Arab world and to stop importing solutions from abroad. He referred to the investments pumped in the service of e-Signature, a core milestone digital ID applications expansion that can never succeed without.
