    FLL Egypt Championship Kicks off

    Date published: 12 April 2017
The Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC), will organize FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Egypt's Championship, on April 14, 21 and 22, at TIEC premises, in Smart Village, under the auspices of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and the Ministry of Education.

FLL is an international competition for school students aged 9-16 years old, organized by the First Lego League of the United States of America for innovation and excellence in science, technology and engineering. Every year, teams of up to 10 students build, program and compete with a robot to complete as many tasks as possible, while also learning about a modern problem in science and engineering and developing solutions for it.

121 teams from public, private and international schools will participate in the Champion. TIEC supports the participation of 29 public schools geographically distributed over 17 governorates across the country. TIEC pays registration fees of schools in the competition, provides playground for training and offers robot kits for the completion of tasks and training.

TIEC also organizes a training camp for teachers and specialists, covering concepts and basics of creativity, fundamentals and techniques of robots, requirements and stages of Egypt's Robotics Championship.

The winning team from Egypt's Championship 2017 will qualify to represent the country in the final competition that will be held in the United States of America, where teams from several countries compete for valuable prizes and scholarships offered by the largest international scientific institutions.

Robofy team from Fayoum Future Public Language School has won the first place in the FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Egypt's Robotics Championship 2016, held in March. The winner team is one of the public schools—participating for the very first time that year—that have been supported by the Technological Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC).

TIEC was launched in 2010 at Smart Village, and is affiliated to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT). It aims to drive innovation and entrepreneurship in ICT for the benefit of the national economy. Its vision is to become a leading regional hub and world class center for ICT based innovations and entrepreneurship.
