EEI Organizes a One-Day Forum on the Impact of ICT on Educational Programs in Egypt

    Date published: 15 March 2009
Egyptian Education Initiative (EEI) organized a one-day forum Wednesday, March 11th, 2009 about the collective impact of ICT on Educational Programs carried out in Egypt. The forum was held at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) premises.

The forum was aimed at figuring out means of maximizing the benefits of ICT investments in education. It kicked off with an opening speech by First Deputy to CIT Minister Dr. Hoda Barka. The speech was followed by a comprehensive presentation given by Dr. Amal Nasralla, the EEI Monitoring and Evaluation Director, MCIT.

During the forum sessions, concerned multi-stakeholders discussed how the output of ICT could be planned and traced in educational programs.

The forum recommended the organization of another meeting in which the attendees can have the opportunity to classify the findings of this one. Documented success stories are also expected to be demonstrated during the next forum.

Last November, Egypt was granted the 2008 UNESCO King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa Prize for the use of ICT in Education.

Launched under the auspices of Egyptís first lady, Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak in May 2006, the EEI is a public-private partnership between the Egyptian Government and the World Economic Forumís IT members' community as a progressive model for reforming the country's educational system.
