900,000 Trainees Enrolled in ICDL Program

    Date published: 22 April 2009
A total of 900,000 trainees have been enrolled so far in the International Computer Driving License (ICDL) program, 300,000 more than the same time last year, according to a report published by the Information Center at Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT).

The project, carried out cooperatively among MCIT, the United Nations Scientific, Educational and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and European Computer Driving License (ECDL) Foundation, aims at granting one million Egyptian citizens the ICDL certificate.

Another purpose is to eradicate the IT illiteracy of all age groups and social segments, which in turn helps maximize the productivity of all employees utilizing computers in different fields.

Ministry of Education, Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Ministry of State for Administrative Development have also contributed to the project's executive process.

ICDL is an internationally accredited certificate issued by the UNESCO. More than 144 countries across the globe acknowledge ICDL tests. The certificate is an international indicator for quality assurance and assessment of the competencies and skills of end beneficiaries.
