    Sisi, ICT Minister Discuss ICT Sector Developments

    President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi met, today, with the Minister of Communications and Information Technology Yasser ElKady, where the meeting discussed the efforts employed by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) to develop the ICT sector and establish specialized technology parks nationwide.
    ElKady talked about the latest developments of establishing the city of knowledge in the new administrative capital city, and the outcomes of his tour to Borg Al-Arab Technology Park. He pointed out that the project aims to implant electronics manufacturing and technology industry and provide job opportunities in this area.
    The ICT Minister stated that the technology parks—established in the cities of Assiut, Borg Al-Arab, Beni Suef and Sadat— will contribute to develop various governorates, pointing out that the technology parks in the cities of Beni Suef and Sadat will be, completely, established by the end of this year.

    During the meeting, ElKady also discussed the results of his visit to Paris last month, where he discussed, with the officials of the French ICT companies, strengthening the partnerships established between Egypt and these companies, increasing their investments in Egypt and enhancing cooperation with them in the field of supporting technology innovation and entrepreneurship. This is in addition to transferring the latest technologies in the field of smart cities establishment and management, communication networks and digital inclusion to the Egyptian market. He stated that MCIT is currently implementing a series of initiatives to implant technology and support the state’s policy towards digital transformation.

    During the meeting, the ICT Minister also reviewed the executive status of the Egyptian initiative for designing and manufacturing electronics. He pointed out that the establishment of electronics factories in the technology parks has already begun, in preparation for producing the latest electronic products by Egyptian hands at competitive prices, where the first Egyptian mobile phone will be manufactured by the end of this year.

    During the meeting, President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi underlined the significance of maintaining developing the ICT sector, being a promising one, and maximizing the benefits of Egypt's unique capabilities and human resources in this field. He also underscored the need to continue implementing projects of smart cities and communities and technology parks, referring the importance of committing to program stipulated time and providing the necessary facilities through the use of integrated technological solutions.
