    Last updated: 29 March 2018
The eleventh Arab Robotics Championship was organized by the Arab Robotics Association, Techno Future and Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA), under the auspices of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), in Sharm El-Sheikh, on March 23-26.

The Arab Robotics Championship is one of the most powerful competitions held in the Arab world in the field of robotics, for different age groups from six-years till university students, aiming to encourage student teams from Arab countries to participate and pay due consideration to technology, math, science and engineering.

The ICT Minister Yasser ElKady and the Governor of South Sinai Khaled Fouda have inaugurated the Championship. The opening ceremony of the Arab Robotics Championship was attended by the President of the Arab Robotics Association Ismail Hassan Yassin, Chairman of Techno Future and President of eleventh Arab Robotics Championship Ayman El Qabbani, and the Director of the Planetarium Science Center (PSC) at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina and the head of the arbitration committee Ayman El Sayed.

Kafr El-Sheikh University’s team, representing Egypt, won the first place and best project in the Championship, where 144 teams from 11 countries participated. The competition entailed a number of technological events with 800 participants. Seven robot competitions— covering the age range of six years till university students— were organized with various technological techniques to encourage participants to pay due consideration to technology, math, science and engineering and create a distinguished generation capable of creativity, innovation and excellence in the fields of technology sciences. The winners will qualify for the world championship that will be held in the United States.

The Arab Robotics Championship aims to highlight the capabilities of those interested in science, engineering, technology and math through the challenges posed to participating teams in the competition, develop the spirit of creativity among participants in the field of robotics and provide a competitive environment for talented young people through competitions. This is in addition to developing skills of participants in engineering, electronics, programming and artificial intelligence as well as skills of cooperation, teamwork and team spirit; spreading the culture of robotics and its role in education in the Arab world; and exchanging experiences among teams and countries in the fields of science, engineering, technology and mathematics.
