    Ministerial Mission to Far East

    Last updated: 9 March 2010

In the context of the Egyptian persistent efforts for mustering more investments and new opportunities in the field of Telecommunications and Information Technology, the Euromoney Egypt Investor Conference was held in March 2nd, 2010, in Hong Kong.

This conference marks the Asian business trip, started by a high-level Egyptian delegation led by Minister of Investment Dr. Mahmoud Mohie Eddin and Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dr. Tarek Kamel.

The delegate also included, Chairman of General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), Osama Saleh, Chairman of Egyptian Exchange (EGX) Maged Shawky, Chairman of CI Capital Holding, Karim Helal, and Managing Director of Citadel Capital, Marwan Elaraby.

The conference discussed Egypt's high potentials and opportunities in the country as an international platform for direct investments.

The Asian mission, headed to three countries, namely Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore, resulted in six deals in the field of Communications and Information Technology.

The deals entail trade representation activities for small and medium-sized companies, the creation of new, distinguished job opportunities in business development, IT products and service provision and training.

This focus shifting from Europe to the Far East, to the extent that Euromoney event, which took place in London for the past five years, was held this year in Hong Kong, marks Asia's growing interests in Egypt.

Besides, it is a result of the Asian markets quick rebound from the world crisis, looking to capitalize on the continued economic growth and relative stability of the Egyptian market.
