ITIDA Launches the National E-content Award Competition

    Cairo, 20 June 2005

Under the auspices of H.E. Dr. Tarek Kamel, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, the Information Technology Industry Development Authority (ITIDA) launched the National E-Content Award Competition. www.econtentaward.org.eg

The competition aims at pushing forward and enriching the Arabic e-content industry in Egypt. The idea came as a means of encouraging the efforts that individuals, private institutions and civil society exert to develop the e-content production through taking part in national and international competitions, which, in return, stresses the Egyptian leading role in the field.

Signing up for the competition is open during the time between 25 June and 10 July. The competition entails e-content productions in the domains of e-learning, e-training and human development, e-culture and heritage, e-government, e-health, e-finance and e-business and entertainment applications. Arbitration will be underway and results will be announced by the second half of July. The judging committee is formed of a selected group of neutral, independent experts in software development and e-content evaluation.

This competition lies within the framework of Egyptís readiness to take part in the World Summit Award for E-content Developers to be held in the second phase of the World Summit on the Information Society next November in Tunisia. Winning productions in Egyptís National E-content Award will be nominated to participate in the competition, held on the sidelines of the World Summit on the Information Society.
