    ITIDA Signs MOU and Protocol with Egyptian Chamber of Commerce of Alexandria

    Cairo, 11 August 2005

    Under the patronage of Dr. Tarek Kamel, minister of Communications and Information Technology, the Egyptian Chamber of Commerce of Alexandria held the its economic forum with the participation of more than 120 members of the business and IT industry leaders in Alexandria. During the event, the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) was recognized, and its various activities that include the e-signature law and the office for software and database for intellectual property rights were presented at the event.

    A protocol was signed between Eng. Mohammed Omran, chairman of ITIDA, and Eng. Khalil Hassan Khalil, the head of the computer and programming department at the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce and board member of the Egyptian Chamber of Commerce of Alexandria. The protocol aims at establishing cooperation among CIT companies to improve export opportunities of Egyptian CIT products and to encourage the participation of Egyptian companies in international exhibitions and forums, in addition to attracting local and international investment.

    Eng. Omran and Mr. Ahmed El-Wekil, vice president of the Egyptian Chamber of Commerce of Alexandria, stressed the importance of the mutual cooperation to be established between ITIDA and the computer and programming dept.

    Within the same framework, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between Eng. Mohammed Omran, chairman of ITIDA, and Mr. Ahmed El-Wekil, vice president of the Egyptian Chamber of Commerce of Alexandria, to apply the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) law in Alexandria The two parties agreed to initiate an awareness campaign, workshops and training courses on how to implement the IPR in institutions. The MOU is based on a number of principles among which are respecting the IPR law and its executive regulations, respecting consumersí rights and providing technical and legal support to companies and merchandisers in Alexandria.
