Dr. Tarek Kamel Attends "Euro money" Conference

    Cairo, 13 March 2006

Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Dr. Tarek Kamel arrives London on March 14 to attend “Egypt: A Commitment to Reform”, organized by "Euro money" under Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif’s sponsorship. During his visit, Dr. Kamel will meet with the Office of the e-envoy; Director of the Call Center Union; Director of Data Monitor Europe - one of the largest international analytical companies specializing in providing live data on different industries, and officials from Vodafone International.

At the conference, Dr. Kamel will attend a session discussing investment opportunities and cooperation needed to build infrastructure in Egypt, touching on the different kinds of direct investment needed, the challenges it may face, the changes required to facilitate investment, taking government directives into consideration within the framework of cooperation between the public sector, private sector, and civil society. Minister of Transport, Mohamed Mansour will also attend along with Dr. Ziad Baha El Din, Chairman of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), Commercial Director of Al Ahram Beverages, and Regional Manager for Vodafone Egypt.

The sessions aim to identify the changes and the positive directions the Egyptian economy has taken and presenting it as a special economic entity, a promising market in the region and highlighting Egypt’s role in regional economic development.

Other ministers attending the conference include the finance, petroleum, investment, industry, tourism, housing and GAFI as well as representatives from Egyptian and international private financial and petroleum sectors among others.

Through holding interactive forums with the Egyptian economic group attending the conference, several issues will be discussed and this will count as an opportunity for businessmen and investors to get to know the government agenda. The conference is considered an opportunity to display the most important developments seen in the Egyptian economy and to attract more foreign investments within the framework of trying to include the private sector in infrastructure projects.

The "Euro money" conference is a great promotional opportunity for Egypt’s investment climate as London is seen as the regional hub for attracting European investments to Egypt, its international importance as a business center, and its strong economic and commercial ties with Egypt, which are growing at an impressively high rate.
