Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dr. Tarek Kamel inaugurated today the technology and social club of the Syndicate of Public Post in Sakiat Mekky district in Giza. The new club has been established to serve the people, especially the youth, living in northern Giza, the employees of Egypt Post Authority and their families. Eng. Alaa Fahmy Chairman of Egypt Post Authority and Dr. Ekramy Fathy chief advisor to CIT minister for training and human development attended the inauguration.
With the new technology club, the number of the IT clubs serving the residents of Giza reaches 154 ones where 2201 PCs are available. The new technology club comes about within the MCIT’s plan of IT awareness-raising among the youth and the Egyptian society in general. This plan can be achieved through facilitating PCs and internet access to all social classes in cities and villages at subsidized prices, with an emphasis on the underprivileged areas.
The Sakiat Mekky club – which contains a computer lab connected to the internet – goes in line with the implementation of the axis of the Egyptian Information Society Initiative (EISI). EISI aims to facilitate IT for all strata nationwide as well as spreading technology awareness among the Egyptian people.
It’s worth mentioning that establishing technology clubs takes places inside youth centers and clubs, public libraries, NGOs, cultural centers, schools and universities.
