    ICT Minister Inspects CIT ‘Annual Conference Digital Nation 5’ Events

    Cairo, 6 March 2018

    The ICT Minister Yasser ElKady inspected, today, the events of the fifth session of the “Annual Conference Digital Nation 5”, organized by the Chamber of Information Technology and Telecommunication (CIT).

    ElKady met with members of CIT Board of Directors, headed by Waleed Gad. He expressed his pleasure to hold the “Digital Nation” conference for the fifth consecutive year. Digital Nation is an important event for gathering ICT companies.

    In this context, the ICT Minister hailed the exhibition which features the projects of the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) participating in the Conference, being a great opportunity for companies to learn about the latest technologies that serve citizens and help activate the digital transformation system in Egypt.

    ElKady highlighted the State's support for the ICT sector as one of the most vital sectors in the country. He stated that the strategic plan for the sector is clear and specific and is in line with the state’s comprehensive strategic plan for transforming the society into an integrated digital one and attracting international companies’ investments which help in creating jobs for young people. He added that Egypt's technological infrastructure in this sector helps Egypt to become a model for a large number of countries in the world.

    He also stated that the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) seeks to improve the government services provided to citizens and provide these services electronically. He pointed out that the volume of expenditure on e-commerce is substantially growing at an annual rate in Egypt. ElKady highlighted the full coordination between MCIT and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to achieve the strategy of the ICT sector 2025.

    More than 100 local and international companies, and a large number of representatives from the United Arab Emirates, Sudan, Saudi Arabia and Lebanon participated in this year’s Digital Nation.
