    New ICT Projects Inaugurated in Suez

    Suez, 25 December 2007

    Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dr.Tarek Kamel along with that of State for Administrative Development Dr. Ahmed Darwish and Governor General Mohamed Saif Eddin Galal inaugurated today a number of projects in Information and Communications Technology (ICT), post and administrative services in Suez governorate.

    Minister Kamel accompanied by Telecom Egypt Chairman Eng. Aqil Beshir and Suez Governor Galal inaugurated the Port Tawfik Telephone Exchange Center. The new center, which is the 18th in the governorate, has a capacity of 10,000 phone lines. The center, costing LE 30 million, is ready to receive immediate requests of lines and inquiries, which puts an end to the problem of pending lists in the governorate.

    Separately, Minister Kamel, Governor Gamal and Dr. Ekram Fathi, senior advisor to the minister for Human Resources and Training, commenced the Muslim Women Associationís IT Club. So far 27 IT clubs have been established in Suez offering 363 computers in addition to another eight under construction.  IT Clubs provide Egyptians with the chance to develop their skills and knowledge through the use of technology.

    Also in Suez, Dr. Kamel, Governor Galal and Egyptian National Post Organization (ENPO) Chairman Eng. Alaa Fahmy, inaugurated the Suez Post Office after being renovated recently. Thirty-nine post offices are spread across the governorate, including ten automated ones.

    Meanwhile, Dr. Kamel along with Dr. Darwish, Governor Galal and Minister of State for Local Development General Mohamed Abdel-Salam Al-Mahgoub inaugurated a citizensí services development project in the governorate's Suez and Arbaein districts. The project aims to effectively facilitate the public services offered to citizens through a dedicated technology center in every neighborhood. The project also helps optimize the performance and offer accurate data for decision-makers.
