    Dr. Kamel Witnesses MoU Signing between ITIDA and Singapore Infocomm Technology Federation (SiTF)

    Cairo, 11 January 2009

    Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dr. Tarek Kamel witnessed today the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) and Singapore Infocomm Technology Federation (SiTF).

    The MoU aims at boosting bilateral cooperation through activities and programs related to ICT, especially cyber security.
     
    Based on the agreement, the two sides will maintain a high-level of periodical communication and share reports and printings about the world's IT sector.
     
    In addition, the two parties agreed on exchanging expertise and encouraging companies in Egypt and Singapore to indentify means of collaboration and effective communication, especially among small and medium sized companies.
     
    The MoU indicates the two sides' keenness to increase exports of IT products and services. The agreement also dictates the two parties' willingness to exert effort and organize training programs for new calibers and professionals to raise their potential, which will be positively reflected on the IT industry itself.
     
    According to the MoU, the two parties will undertake joint academic studies related to ICT and maintain the highest level of communication for exchanging consultations and views over the changes in the sector and the way to catch up with them.
     
    In his word during the meeting, Dr. Kamel stated he was interested in cooperating with Singapore in the field of cyber security, in which the country realized remarkable achievements. 

    Minister Kamel also confirmed his interest in carrying out joint programs for developing the human capital, as the pillar of the promising business process outsourcing (BPO) industry in Egypt, referring to ITIDA's efforts in this domain.
     
    ITIDA CEO Dr. Hazem Abdelazim and Mr. Pang Hee Hon, E-Government Chapter Chairman signed the agreement. Singapore Ambassador to Egypt Mr. Wong Kwok Pun witnessed the signing ceremony.
