    Cooperation Protocol Signed between MCIT and Ministry of Agriculture

    Cairo, 1 June 2009

    Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dr. Tarek Kamel and Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Eng. Amin Abaza signed today a cooperation protocol agreement on developing Central Lab of Veterinary Quality Control on Poultry Production.
     
    Based on the two-year agreement, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation will cooperate in preparing and carrying out an integrated information system for Central Lab of Veterinary Quality Control on Poultry Production.
     
    The two ministries will also collaborate in developing the technological infrastructure of the lab units at its headquarters and in building a communication network to connect the lab in Cairo with its branches in Luxor, Fayoum, Sharkia, Alexandria, Ismalia and Gamasa and Damanhour cities. The network will speed up sending the test results of samples.
     
    Moreover, the agreement encompasses the enhancement of an integrated information system to automate the work cycle at the lab for easily following up its operations and releasing reports and periodical statistics for the concerned parties. These reports will indicate the status of epidemic diseases in Egypt.
     
    MCIT will provide a training program for the lab technical calibers and the managerial staff, enabling them to managing and operate the required systems. The renewable protocol is active as of July 2009.
     
    Central Lab of Veterinary Quality Control on Poultry Production is the sole entity specialized in detecting bird flu and following up and evaluating the immunizations of the illness at fields. The lab carries out its operations in accordance with the requirements of ISO/IEC17025 recognized by International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC).
     
    Separately, Dr. Kamel and Eng. Abaza witnessed an agreement signing on modernizing and documenting important, rate plants in Egypt at six gardens supervised by Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation.
     
    The six gardens are located in the Giza Zoo, Al-Orman Park, Al-Qubba Park, Al-Zuhria Park, Agricultural museum gardens, the Fish Park. The agreement also entails management modernization and the documentation of horse breeds.
     
    The protocol's purpose is to develop the concept of garden management through documenting their content, facilitating the information for future projects and building databases that include information on the types of plants in Egyptian gardens to be supported by photos and scientific data for publishing applicable for publishing on the web.
     
    The agreement was signed between Dr. Fathy Saleh, Director of Center for Documentarian for Cultural and Natural Heritage (CULTNAT) and Dr. Adel El-Beltagy, Head of Research and Development Council at Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation.
