    Dr. Kamel Witnesses Cooperation Agreement Signing between MCIT and Alexandria University on Putting into Force African Electronic Network Project

    Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dr. Tarek Kamel and Minister of State for Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Hani Helal witnessed today the signing of a cooperation agreement between Ministry of Communications and IT (MCIT) and Alexandria University.

    The deal implements the African Electronic Network project at Alexandria University. First Deputy to Minister of Communications and IT Dr. Hoda Baraka and Alexandria University President Dr. Hassan Nadir Khairallah signed the agreement.

    The agreement aims at putting into force the role of information and communication technology (ICT) in pushing forward the e-learning system.

    The project supports the establishment of an information network that connects African countries with India to be used in distance learning and e-medicine.
    Based on the agreement, MCIT will nominate Alexandria University as a regional university for the North African region.

    Moreover, MCIT will recommend the university hospital as a highly specialized hospital for the network and coordinate this matter with the African Union.

    In addition, MCIT will provide Alexandria University with computers, satellite receivers and the equipment required for the distance learning website.

    The ministry will also facilitate the acquisition of communication licenses for satellite frequencies.

    Additionally, MCIT will coordinate with Indian universities and the regional network member ones the type of programs that will be carried out in Egypt.
    MCIT is the only representative party of the Egyptian Government in the African Electronic Network agreement.

    On its part, Alexandria University will provide the necessary preparations related to the infrastructure for operating computers, receivers and satellite transmission devices for the distance learning center.

    Egyptian E-Learning University (EELU) will take part in implementing the project and utilizing the African network in broadcasting its programs and nominating students to make use of the different educational programs published on the network.
