    Prime Minister to Inaugurate the Smart Village 3rd Phase in November

    Cairo, 3 October 2008
    Prime Minister is due to inaugurate this November a number of new Egyptian and international establishments inside the Smart village as part of the completion of the mega project's third phase.

    The new buildings are that of Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), MobiNil, B19 which includes the premises of the Chinese Huawei and the Smart Village Administration in addition to Future Group building that contains the new expansions of the French Valeo and a number of small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs).

    Also underway are more than 30 buildings inside the Smart Village encompassing the National Bank of Egypt, Piraeus Bank and Stock Exchange premises.

    Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dr. Tarek Kamel said that these inaugurations will further develop the competitive edge of the Smart Village.

    Minister Kamel confirmed that the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology had put among its priorities in the coming phase the continuation of developing an information-based society and an export-oriented IT industry. 

    On September 21, 2003, the first phase of the Smart Village that included Xceed Contact Center, Microsoft Corp., the Technology Incubators building and that of Training was inaugurated.

    In August 2007, a presidential tour was conducted in Egypt's technology park after the establishment of MCIT headquarters, the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA), Center for Documentation of Cultural and Natural Heritage (CULTNAT), ADCOM Building (which includes HP and Erickson), the Conference and Exhibitions Hall, the Sports Club, Vodafone Egypt, Etisalat Misr, the SMEs Building and that of Alcatel-Lucent.   

    A total of 20,000 workers work on the Smart Village that was totally designed and implemented by Egyptian human resources and companies specialized in the field.
