ITIDA Signs Cooperation Agreement with Alexandria University on Establishing a Technology Incubator at Faculty of Engineering

    Alexandria, 30 July 2009

Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dr. Tarek Kamel and Minister of State for Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Hani Helal witnessed today an agreement signing between Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) and Alexandria University.

Based on the deal, a technology incubator will be established for IT projects at the university's Faculty of Engineering.

ITIDA Executive Vice President Dr. Sherif Hashim and Alexandria University President Dr. Hassan Nadir Khairallah signed the agreement.

The agreement goes in line with the Technology Incubators Program carried out by Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) through ITIDA to support and develop the innovative capabilities of young businessmen and help establish new IT companies.

MCIT and ITIDA support the foundation of technology incubators nationwide. Each incubator contains about 10 companies. The project first kicked off in 2006 in the Smart Village.

An incubator was established in cooperation with Cairo University and another is underway in collaboration with Assuit University.

The date of receiving applications to join the program will be announced soon. Applications will be received either through the Business Plans Competition for startup companies or owners of projects who wish to turn them into companies. These processes will be undertaken in cooperation with Alexandria University.

During the two-year incubation program, a number of services and training in
business administration, management, finance and marketing will be offered to the incubated companies through specialized programs.
