    Dr. Kamel Meets with UNESCO Director-General

    Cairo, 7 December 2009
    Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dr. Tarek Kamel met with Irina Bokova, Director-General of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) during her visit to Egypt.

    The meeting was held in the presence of Minister of Higher Education and State for Scientific Research Dr. Hani Helal.

    The two parities conferred the issue of Arabic e-content and the efforts exerted by Egypt to increase and facilitate it on the internet, which helps introduce the Arab civilization and culture to the whole world.

    Meanwhile, Ms. Bokova visited the premises of the Center for Documentation of Cultural and Natural Heritage (CULTNAT) in the Smart Village where she was received by CULTNAT Director Dr. Fathi Saleh. Dr. Saleh presented to her the different activities undertaken by the center.

    The UNESCO Director-General toured Skye Knights Hall where she got to know about the Arab major contribution to astrology. She was also introduced to the main 15 projects carried out by CULTNAT in cooperation with other entities.

    Moreover, Ms. Bokova watched a 3D documentary showcasing Egypt's ancient history during the Pharaonic, Coptic and Islamic eras.

    Ms. Bokova expressed her admiration for what she saw at the CULTNAT halls. She stated that she respects such valuable endeavors to preserve the Egyptian rich heritage and the help present it to the human civilization.
