    Washington, 24 June 2009

Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) signed today a memorandum of understanding with IBM Corp. on expanding the companyís operations at IBM Global Delivery Center in Egypt. The center had been inaugurated in April 2008.

Based on the MoU, the center will offer about 1100 job opportunities for Egyptian specialized calibers within the coming three years.

ITIDA CEO Dr. Hazem Abdelazim and General Manager of IBM Egypt Eng. Amr Ghoneim signed the agreement in the presence of Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dr. Tarek Kamel and IBM Vice President Mr. Richard Patterson.

The center provides IBM customers with services in the fields of consultancy, software development, software program testing and embedded software programs. It serves the company's clients in France, Germany, Spain, Sweden and the USA.

In a statement released by IBM, the company confirmed the center's ability to facilitate services for its clients in the above countries due to the distinguished multilingual capabilities of the Egyptian specialists and the Government's interest in developing and improving the skills of the calibers working in the field.

In other news, Minister Kamel is scheduled to meet Mr. Samuel Palmisano, IBM Chairman of the Board and CEO, at the company's premises Thursday. Dr. Kamel will have a field visit at the Nanotechnology Center at Watson Research Center.

In September 2008, M. Palmisano had visited Egypt and held talks with President Hosni Mubarak about the company's investments in the country and its wish to expand them.

Mr. Palmisano witnessed with Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Nazif the signing of a number of agreements with Egypt, including the establishment of a nanotechnology research center and another pertaining to human resource training.
