    Inaugurating the Scientific Conference of the Egyptian-Italian Cooperation in Rome

    Cairo, 1 February 2012

    Egypt participates in the scientific conference of the Egyptian-Italian cooperation organized by the cultural office at the Egyptian Embassy in Rome.

    During the two-day conference, Director of Human Development and Training Sector at MCIT, Dr. Ahmed Darwish delivered a speech, at the opening session of the conference, on behalf of His Excellency, minister of communications and Information Technology, Dr. Mohamed Salem.

    In the speech, Dr. Salem, stresses on ICT role in January 25th Revolution, explaining that such a role is considered as a model and a quantum leap for the role of ICT. Since now on, ICT is transformed from just a means of entertainment and knowledge to a tool supporting and spreading democracy.

    Minister of ICT, Dr. Mohamed Salem, reviews the main ICT sectorís achievements during the past five years and contribution to the increase of the national income and the creation of distinguished employment opportunities to Egyptian youth.

    Moreover, His Excellency, Dr. Mohamed Salem displays ICT sectorís future plans, pointing to the importance of the Egyptian-Italian cooperation which could be a model of successful partnership between both sides of the Mediterranean.

    Italian participants: companies, government agencies and universities expressed their willingness to cooperate with the Egyptian entities in all fields.  It has been agreed to follow-up on cooperation areas between both sides through joint meetings in the coming period.
