    ICT Minister Receives Ambassador of Belarus to Egypt

    Cairo, 4 October 2018

    The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat has received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to Egypt Sergei Rachkov, to discuss enhancing bilateral relations in the ICT field, within the framework of mutual coordination between the two countries in ICTs, following the visit of the Minister of Communications and Informatics of Belarus to Egypt in April.

    During the meeting, Talaat reviewed the vision and strategy of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), and the most important projects implemented by MCIT to enable the Stateís sectors to develop digitally and provide advanced e-services, while working in parallel on developing the ICT sector, promoting the ICT industry, and implanting electronics manufacturing. He also referred to the significance of bilateral cooperation between the two countries and the exchange of experiences.

    The ICT Minister also highlighted MCIT keenness to prepare capacity building programs, support creativity and entrepreneurship, and create an incubating environment for technological innovation, aiming to prepare qualified human resources to lead the digital transformation processes that MCIT carries out in cooperation with the Statís various sectors.

    For his part, Rachkov welcomed cooperation and exchange of experiences in the areas of technology parks, electronic manufacturing, cybersecurity, data centers, electronic games, capacity building, technology learning and e-government services. The Ambassador also welcomed increasing educational opportunities available to Egyptian students at relevant Belarusian universities.

    During the meeting, the two sides agreed to hold reciprocal visits for the specialized experts from the two countries to learn more about the opportunities for enhancing relations between the two countries in areas of common interest and to identify the procedures necessary to turn this cooperation into joint projects implemented through a specific plan of action.

    The meeting also discussed a number of topics, including the current status of the agreement of scientific and educational cooperation signed in April, between the National Telecommunication Institute (NTI) and the Belarusian State Academy of Telecommunications, and means of activating this agreement in the coming stage.
