    ICT Minister Meets Parliament ICT Committee Head

    Cairo, 20 November 2018

    The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat has received the Parliament- ICT Committee Head Ahmed Badawy, at the ICT Ministerís office in Smart Village, where the meeting discussed a number of topics related to the legislative agenda prepared by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and the most important projects aimed at achieving the transition to digital society.

    The meeting discussed the legislation related to the ICT sector, including the laws related to combatting cybercrimes, regulating electronic transactions, and protecting personal data. The international attention to the protection of personal data was reviewed, especially following the issuance of the European Union regulations which impose obligations on data processors, and citizensí right to protect their personal data. They also ascertained the significance of raising awareness of citizens about the optimal use of their data when dealing in a digital environment.

    The meeting reviewed the projects implemented by MCIT in cooperation with the various sectors of the State to enable them to develop technologically, achieve the transition to digital society and provide distinguished services to citizens. The meeting also reviewed the projects which aim to develop and modernize the infrastructure and communication networks nationwide to improve the quality of telecommunications services, within the framework of the government's program aimed at improving the standard of living of citizens.
