ICT Minister Witnesses Signing Cooperation Protocol between Silicon Waha and Vodafone Egypt

    Cairo, 25 November 2018

The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat witnessed, today, the signing of a cooperation protocol between Silicon Waha, affiliated to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and Vodafone Egypt, aiming to expand Vodafone business in Egypt and create more job opportunities in the new technology parks.

The one-year protocol stipulates that Vodafone is to provide 500 new job opportunities in the field of customer service centers in the technology parks, either through the company or through one of the providers of such services in the technology parks of Borg Al Arab, Assiut and Beni Suef.

The protocol is within the framework of the keenness of the two sides to maximize the benefits of technology parks, the abundance of skills and large number of university graduates, from all disciplines across the governorates. It also aims to qualify young people to join the labor market in the areas of information technology, including call centers, technical support, software development and electronics design.

The technology parks project, supervised by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), has a number of competitive advantages for companies and the business sector, including the competitive operating costs and the stimulating investment environment in the governorates, which encourage local and international ICT companies to penetrate new foreign markets and export to different markets.

The protocol reflects MCIT keenness to meet the needs of local and international ICT companies from the skilled workforce and benefit from the competitive advantages of Egypt in terms of location, linguistic diversity, technical skills and abundant skills in attracting local, regional and international investments for the development of new technology parks.

The protocol was signed by the Managing Director of Silicon Waha Sameh Al-Mallah, and the External Affairs and Legal Director - Vodafone Egypt Ayman Essam.
