    Protocol Signed to Facilitate Consumer Services Using IT

    Cairo, 18 June 2013
    The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mr Atef Helmy along with the Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Dr Bassem Ouda witnessed today the ceremony of signing a joint cooperation protocol between the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and the Consumer Protection Agency (CPA)for development and technological modernization.

    The protocol aims at promoting information capability for the CPA, through which it responds to every citizenís complaint, takes decisions at the appropriate time at all levels and facilitate services provided by CPA for citizens using IT tools..

    The protocol comes in line with the keenness of the government to enhance the efficiency of services provided to citizens, lay the foundation for developing government performance and improve monitoring and management.

    It also asserts the governmentís will to pursue all forms of corruption and protect citizens from commercial fraud through a technological system that saves time and effort.

    This comes in the framework of the governmentís endeavors to transfer to a digital information society, being implemented through a national strategy  designed for this purpose.

    The protocol was signed by MCIT First Deputy Gen Magdy Metwaly and the head of CPA Mr Atef Yacoub.

    The one-and-a-half year  protocol, subject to renewal, aims generally to develop the technological system at CPA through work pivots among which are developing CPA technological infrastructure of equipment and advancing automated systems required for automating work of CPA.

    Moreover, MCIT, in the specialized areas, is to provide CPA with technical consultations and works are expected to be implemented by major IT companies in Egypt.
