    ICT Minister Receives Bahraini Counterpart

    Cairo, 27 September 2013

    The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mr Atef Helmy has received the Bahraini Minister of State for Communications Affairs Shaikh Fawaz Bin Mohammed Al Khalifa and his accompanied delegation at his office in Smart Village.

    Egyptís ICT sector most significant features and competitive advantages in both countries were tackled; the means to activate these advantages for the benefit of Egyptian and Bahraini populations.

    Both sides discussed achievements in related areas and a number of issues of common interest on bilateral and regional levels; those issues can be crystalized to emerge more joint cooperation projects and create full integration between the two countries in the coming period.

    The visit comes within the framework of Egypt and Bahrain keenness to strengthen bilateral relations in ICT fields. It underlines the importance of the promising sector, its positive impact on the emerging economics, improves individuals and societies living standards.

    After the meeting, the Bahraini delegation, headed by Shaikh Al Khalifa, was accompanied by Mr Atef Helmy to tour Smart Village.

    Both ministers visited a number of companies; for example, Xceed, Center for Documentation of Cultural and Natural Heritage (CULTNAT) and the Information Technology Institute (ITI) which is an important IT research and educational institutes.

    At the end, Sheikh Al Khalifa praised the efforts exerted in Smart Village, as he got acquainted with the significant ICT activities in Egypt. He also pointed out to the importance of opening cooperation channels with Egypt in such a vital sector.
