    ICT Minister Meets SVC BoD

    - ICT Minister Discusses Investment Opportunities in Technology Parks with SVC BOD

    The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Atef Helmy has met with the Board of Directors of Smart Village Company where they discussed a number of issues among which have been several models that are alternative sources of energy, such as solar energy. This technology has been agreed to be applied to some buildings in Smart Village.

    The meeting also discussed the current study to apply green and modern technology solutions as some models that could be taken into account are being implemented in the integrated technology project in Eastern Cairo.

    The meeting was on the sideline of the ceremony held for signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between SVC and Elmostakbal Urban Development Company to establish an integrated project in Eastern Cairo similar to the Smart Village project in October 6 city.

    Moreover, the subject of building the new five scheduled technology parks in Asiut, Burj Al Arab, Aswan, Sohag and Sadat City was deliberated with investments reaching 24 billion Egyptian pounds.

    Regulatory and administrative procedures are scheduled to conclude soon and a local, regional and international tender will be issued during the next few week to attract experts houses, thereby start optimum planning for these areas.

    During the meeting, activating the sectorís role in Suez Canal axis projects scheduled to become a global logistic area, making Egypt an international hub for internet through the optimum use of maritime cables (currently 18 maritime cables), as well as building international centers for data storage.

    Modernizing the infrastructure for this area--in terms of automated technical applications, fiber cable infrastructure and others--is therefore paramount. Consultative offices responsible for preparing the overall plan of the project are scheduled to finalize its work by November. It is noteworthy the government is to take part in this project by up to 15%.
