    Cairo, 3 June 2014

The IT Infrastructure Sector at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) has been certified the ISO 9001 in quality management systems after completing all stages and revising procedures qualifying it to attain the international certificate from SGS S.A., the  Swiss inspection, verification, testing and certification services company.

IT Infrastructure Sector Director Hesham El Deeb expressed his contentment for  acquiring such an international certificate that crowns the sectorís efforts in the past ten years, and its major role in promoting business implementation in cooperation with other ministries, agencies and bodies in the State.

This comes as part of El Deebís keenness to follow latest means and applications in work methodology and projects implementation in line with MCIT strategy aiming to automate the working systems at all State entities, thus shifting towards a digital society that provides easy services and tools to citizens.

At the same time, he  praised the role of the sectorís employees and the support of the Minister of ICT Atef Helmy to the sector to improve business quality in order to achieve best levels for the benefit of the nation and citizens.

Social Lead Auditor at SGS Egypt Hamdi Karrara praised the accuracy and quality in following measurements, and the complete harmony between the different departments of the IT infrastructure sector at MCIT, largely conforming to the revision standards of ISO 9001.

The IT infrastructure sector aims basically to entrench the role of ICT in all fields: health, education, agriculture, supply, automating the working systems; in cooperation with ministries and bodies of State to improve services provided to citizens directly or indirectly. This is  in addition to raising awareness about potentials of government development which indirectly impact providing services to society.

The IT sector at MCIT works on implementing around 45 protocols signed between MCIT and other ministries entailing around 200 projects with 3 billion EGP investments, currently  being implemented and are due to complete within the next five years.
