    ICT Minister, Ivorian Minister of Digital Economy and Post Discuss Enhancing Cooperation in ICTs

    Cote d’Ivoire, 10 April 2019

    The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat has met with the Ivorian Minister of Digital Economy and Post Claude Isaac De, where they discussed enhancing cooperation between the two countries in ICTs.

    The meeting is within the framework of Talaat’s visit to Cote d’Ivoire, accompanied by the Vice Minister for Administrative Development, Digital Transformation, and Automation Khaled El Attar and a high-level delegation, to explore areas of joint cooperation between the two countries, and open new horizons in ICTs.

    The two sides discussed a range of topics of common interest, during the meeting, and highlighted the two countries’ keenness to exchange experiences in these fields. In addition, a series of workshops was organized between the Egyptian delegation and a number of Ivorian officials in digital economy and post field, where the main pillars of the two countries’ strategies in fields related to the ICT industry were presented.

    Moreover, the two sides agreed on cooperating in a number of areas, including exchanging experiences in digital transformation, cybersecurity, establishing smart villages and technology parks, developing technological skills, and capacity building.

    Following the meeting, the two ministers visited the Institute of Information Technology, where Talaat got acquainted with the winning projects of the competitions that the institute organizes in many fields, including Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Talaat was impressed with the projects and the creative ideas, and promised to offer a one-month training scholarship to the winning team in Egypt.

    In addition, Talaat called upon the Ivorian youth to participate in the African App Launchpad (AAL) initiative— the Egyptian presidential initiative for training 10,000 African young people on digital games and applications.

    The two ministers, also, took a tour in the Ivorian technology cluster to explore closely the Ivorian experience in establishing smart villages.
