    ITIDA Signs Protocols with CSOs

    Cairo, 26 August 2014

    The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Atef Helmy witnessed today the signing of three-year cooperation protocols between the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) and three Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) involved in ICT.

    The protocols mandate ITIDA to provide 35 million EGP worth of technical, administrative and financial support r to CSOs in ICT sector, represented in the IT industry chamber and the Egyptian Information Telecommunications Electronics and Software Alliance (EITESAL) and the General Divison of the Computer and Software at the General Federation of Chambers (FOCC-IT).

    ITIDA strategy supports the development of the ICT sector to increase exports of technology services and software.

    The agreements enable CSOs to undertake institutional development and enhance the working system, increase competitiveness and improve members’ efficiency, thus positively impact the industry.
    Helmy has said that MCIT adopts a comprehensive program to support civil organizations through ITIDA.

    The program aims to support ICT civil entities, considered a strong partner to the ministry and the agency, to open new horizons for companies in the sector. Therefore, he has added, a decision was made, through these agreements, to support CSOs with 35 million EGP.

    This aims to develop the sector, support SMEs to increase Egyptian exports of software through enhancing competitiveness of Egyptian products, increase Egyptian exports, penetrate new markets and create new opportunities locally and internationally. This is in addition to developing local demand and improving employees’ efficiency in IT fields whether in CSOs or member companies.

    Accordingly, ITIDA supports CSOs institutional development as well as the program to support capacities and talents of Egyptian Civil Organizations in the ICT sector. This also includes supporting human calibers, training and international activities, trade missions, studies, consultancies, local demand development, improving Egyptian companies’ efficiency, sustainability of institutions such as in developing membership, advocacy to support policies, activities of committees and teams. 
    “These protocols create new jobs in the  ICT sector, improve products and services’ quality, increase the sector’s sales, achieve revenues on money invested and open new markets, leading to the prosperity of the sector,” ITIDA CEO Hussein El-Gueretly has explained.

    The agreements help organizations to improve services offered to members and qualify them to face fierce competition on both local and international levels to be able to export their products.


    The program comes within the framework of MCIT and ITIDA policy towards supporting ICT civil organizations, to become a strong partner in opening new horizons for ICT companies, increase Egyptian products’ competitiveness and exportation, open new markets and create opportunities on local and international levels.

    El-Gueretly signed the contract with the Computers and Software sector at the General Federation of Chambers Chairman Khalil Hassan, EITESAL Chairman Hazem El-Tahawy, ICT Chamber Chairman Khaled Ibrahim.
