    ICT Minister Partakes in Judiciary Support Conference

    Cairo, 25 September 2014

    The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Atef Helmy and the Minister of International Cooperation Naglaa El Ehwany took part today in the conference "Support the judiciary: to enhance the performance of the judiciary and improve the efficiency of the process of drafting laws in Egypt.

    This took part during the launching ceremony of the MENA Transitional Fund project,  in collaboration with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the World Bank.

    During his speech, Helmy said that the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) had been keen-since its establishment-to support the judiciary system electronically through signing a number of cooperation protocols with all judiciary bodies, represented in the Supreme Constitutional Court, the Court of Cassation, the Public Prosecution and the Ministry of Justice.

    The ICT minister added the main objectives of the cooperation was to benefit from the IT applications to come out with an advanced technology system that targets eliminating bureaucracy, facilitate and minimize procedures for citizens and integrate with all related bodies, thereby saving time and effort for all concerned parties.

    Among attendees in the opening session were the second deputy to the president of the cassation court Ahmed Gamal Eddin Abdel-Latif, the Deputy Minister of Justice for International Cooperation Adel Fahmy, the Director for Public Governance and Territorial Development of the OECD  Rolf Alter and representative of the African Development Bank in Egypt Laila El-Mokadem. This is in addition to a number of experts, specialists and ambassadors.
