    MCIT, MoTI Sign Cooperation Protocol

    Cairo, 17 November 2014

    The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Atef Helmy and the Minister of Trade, Industry, and Small and Medium Projects, Monir Fakhry Abd El Nour have signed a cooperation protocol to automate the latterís  and its affiliates through developing its e-portal, the technology infrastructure of its information center and providing training to specialized employees.

    The protocol comes within the framework of the current cooperation between the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and other ministries and government bodies.

    The protocol is in line with MCIT designed national plan to improve, develop and modernize governmental performance, as well as enhancing business efficiency. The goal is to answer citizensí needs through activating ICT tools role which help to save time, efforts and cut expenses for the benefit of both citizens and employees.

    According to the protocol, MCIT is to develop technology mechanisms and  applications for the benefit of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Small and Medium Projects by providing an e-archive system for correspondences, Helmy has said.

    The new system will help control the follow-up on correspondences through an automated system that enables users to exchange tasks and letters at different managerial levels in an electronic form.

    Abd El Nour has underlined the significance of keeping up-to-date with technology advancement to communicate with different entities and sectors. Trade, industry and small and medium projects represent the backbone of the economy. Applying IT systems in different sectors, therefore,  will create an attractive environment for business and allow better services contributing to the advancement of the national economy.

    The 2-year protocol incorporates six main projects, among which is the development of an e-portal on three phases. The first and second phases include the development of the portal to add texts, photos, documents, files and others in both English and Arabic languages.

    This is in addition to facilitating communication between citizens and the Ministry, and the content management of the portal internally or externally through an e-system allowing a package of reports and statistics to support decision-making. The third phase entails the finalizing of the e-portal development to publish information on the internet that is accessible to citizens and investors; and provide online services.

    MCIT also develops the technology infrastructure of the information center affiliated to the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Small and Medium Projects, as well as developing human calibers and providing computer training programs for its employees.
