    Supreme Executive Committee of MCIT, Health Ministry Meets to Discuss Joint Projects

    Cairo, 3 May 2015

    The Supreme Executive Committee of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and the Ministry of Health met today, to discuss the current implementation activities of the joint cooperation protocol.

    The meeting was chaired by the Minister of Communications and Information Technology Khaled Negm and the Minister of Health Adel Adawy.

    The cooperation protocol between both ministries is meant to active the role of ICT tools and benefit from the latest technological systems to improve the quality of health care services offered to the citizens nationwide.

    Negm has ascertained that the Ministry and its affiliates exert lots of efforts to implement related projects and achieve a full, distinguished system for the health care sector, one of the most vital sectors directly affecting lives of citizens.

    Adawy has explained that cooperation with MCIT aims to maximize the benefits of ICT in the health care sector to positively impact its services performance as well as to save time, efforts and resources.

    The current implementation activities for the joint projects which answer the needs of the Ministry of Health in therapeutic medicine, pharmacology and Health Insurance Organization, General Secretariat for Specialized Medical Centers including: National Network for Citizen Health Treatment at State’s Expense, Laboratories Information Network, automation of the pharmaceutical supply chain, National Cancer Registry Program of Egypt, health care project for people in need, e-portal for public complaints, providing DSL connections for 340 hospitals and health care centers in governorates as part of an internet pilot project. These projects represent 21% of the total State’s projects in different sectors.

    Several proposals were presented to establish a national information tank network connecting hospitals to ensure data exchange, establish a unified medical record for citizens and use national ID as the only identification proof to receive medical services.
