    ICT Minister, Chinese Companies Officials Discuss Fostering Electronics Industry in Egypt

    China, 8 August 2019

    The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat, on the sidelines of his participation in BRICS Future Network Innovation Forum in China, has met with representatives of Chinese companies specializing in electronics feeding industries.

    They discussed establishing an industrial cluster in Egypt through an alliance including a number of Chinese companies, with the aim to create an integrated system for electronics feeding industries, such as television screens, mobile phones, and tablets.

    This comes in the framework of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) implementation of Egypt Makes Electronics (EME) initiative that focuses on designing and manufacturing electronics to implant this industry, create added value for manufactured products, and increase Egyptís electronics exports.

    Relevantly, Talaat met with a number of Chinese companies operating within an alliance led by SOGO, a company working in manufacturing headphones, micro cables and power cables.

    In addition, the ICT Minister met with a group of companies led by DSBJ, a company specializing in manufacturing backlight for screens and screen films. He, also, met with Jaleny Electronics General Manager Ye Feng. Jaleny Electronics is specialized in manufacturing tablets.

    Moreover, Talaat met with ADF Battery Co., Ltd. CEO Jacky Lai. ADF Battery is specialized in manufacturing mobile phone batteries.

    Furthermore, the ICT Minister met with Vice President of YOFC Zhou Liiing. YOFC is a leading company specializing in fiber optic cables. They discussed the companyís investment plans for establishing a factory in Egypt.

    The meetings were attended by Vice President of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) Hossam Osman and a number of MCIT officials.
