    ICT Minister Opens Centrals, Postal Service Centers in Alexandria

    The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Yasser ElKady inaugurated, today, Borg Al Arab Central and its customer service center, where he was received by Telecom Egypt (TE) VP Chief Regional Officer Refaat Geneidy and other TE officials in Alexandria.

    The number of lines in Borg Al Arab Central is 12000 lines, 60% of its infrastructure network has been developed and modernized using optical fibers, and the whole network is due to be completed this year. 90% of copper network maintenance has been completed and the entire maintenance is expected to be completed this year. The Central serves the new Borg Al Arab city which consists of eight residential districts and six industrial zones.

     ElKady and his delegation opened Smouha Central and its customer service center which capacity covers 62000 lines. About 36% of the main central network has been replaced using optical fibers, while the replacement and modernization processes are scheduled to be completed within two years. The maintenance of more than half of the secondary network has been completed as well, and the completion of full maintenance is planned by the end of May.

    This development is part of the national plan implemented by TE to modernize and develop the infrastructure and networks for all 1600 centrals nationwide.

     Moreover, the ICT Minister, accompanied by the Egyptian National Post Organization (ENPO)Chairman Essam El-Sageir, inspected the construction works of Saray Post Office according to the strategic plan implemented by ENPO for the development and modernization of about 420 post offices across the country by the end of 2016, to become  integrated postal service centers that offer all postal, financial and community services in a civilized manner appropriate to Egyptian citizens and meet all their needs. The office offers its integrated services for about 48785people, and disburses pensions to around 10271 pensioners, while the number of saving account clients reaches 37000.

    The ICT minister, and accompanying ENPO executive leaders, also inaugurated Mansheya Office, which provides postal services to approximately 24241 citizens, and disburses pensions for around 1879 beneficiaries. The the number of savings accounts clients is 19619.

    ENPO has started the implementation of the development and modernization project of post offices nationwide, using highest international technology to provide its integrated services to citizens efficiently. ENPO develops its various sectors through a comprehensive plan to make a great achievement in the level of services provided to citizens in accordance with international standards.

    This will enable the organization to compete, at the domestic, regional and international level, in providing services to its customers and get a fair share in the global postal services market.
