ICT Minister Receives Head of Avaya International

    Cairo, 6 January 2020

The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat has met with the President of Avaya international Nidal Abou-Ltaif. They discussed qualifying and training human calibers and using Avaya's smart software platforms to provide the best technological solutions.

The aim is to support digital transformation, promote innovation and Egyptians’ skills to further their competitiveness, globally, and improve service quality.

The two sides agreed on establishing an international center in Egypt to develop Avaya software, providing its services to all the countries in which the company operates. The center represents an enabling environment for promoting and adopting innovation in Research and Development (R&D) of cloud computing-based smart technologies, software and solutions, and raising the efficiency of human skills.

The meeting was attended by the ICT Minister’s Advisor for Social Responsibility and Services, and the Executive Director of the National Academy of Information Technology for Persons with Disabilities (NAID) Abeer Shakweer, and Avaya Egypt Country Manager Ahmed Fayed.

During the meeting, Talaat highlighted the keenness of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) on cooperating with major companies specializing in smart technological solutions. He also underlined the significance of collaborating with Avaya to provide the latest technological solutions and advanced technologies that contribute efficiently to building digital Egypt.

In addition, the ICT Minister underscored the importance of digital transformation in improving the quality of government services provided to citizens, and contributing to boosting Egypt’s productivity. He also referred to MCIT efforts to attain its promising vision of digital transformation, in cooperation with all the state institutions.

For his part, Abou-Ltaif stated that he looks forward to more fruitful cooperation with MCIT, and highlighted Avaya's keenness to support Egypt’s digital transformation through providing the latest smart technological solutions. He said that Avaya is growing its technology software developers team in Egypt with 80%, believing that Egypt is replete with numerous qualified personnel, and that youth are the backbone of the ICT sector.

Moreover, the two sides agreed on providing access to MCIT employees to Avaya Cloud unified communication platform, to facilitate their communication and cooperation, and train human calibers on Avaya’s latest smart software platforms and technologies. This is to be achieved in collaboration with the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) and the Information Technology Institute (ITI).

This comes as part of Avaya’s efforts to train trainers and qualify specialists to provide high quality training, with a new cohort graduating every three months to meet the Egyptian market needs of different specialties.

MCIT launched the technical center for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) in collaboration with Avaya. The aim is to allow access of people with hearing and speech impairments to emergency, ambulance and firefighting services through “Wasel” application that enables visual communication with employees in these departments, using the sign language and visual signs.

Avaya is a pioneering company, specializing in modern technology, working for more than a hundred years in supporting institutions around the world to achieve growth through providing smart integrated solutions for communications and leading services, for employees and companies.
